SHILLONG, JAN 31: As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Dorbar Shnong of Mawlai Mawroh, a marathon was organized to woo the young people of the locality to showcase their talents in the field of sports besides arranging a rendezvous for all the residents of the locality.
Attending the sports event as the chief guest early January 30 morning, District Sports Officer (DSO) George Lyngdoh congratulated the dorbar shnong for achieving yet another milestone while lauding the participants for showing their enthusiasm to the uplift the society.
As many as 30-35 participants ranging from small children, youngsters to adult men and women participated in the event.
The winners were awarded with a trophy along with cash prizes.
Holding on to its theme ‘Unity is Strength’, the members of the dorbar shnong will also rganize many programme the whole year with a purpose to instill a sense of unity and brotherhood amongst the residents of the locality.
The opening ceremony of this year-long platinum jubilee celebrated was held on January 24 in the presence of Meghalaya Information and Public Relations minister AL Hek and Mawlai legislator Embhah Syiemlieh, Mawroh Rangbah Shnong Peter G Lamare besides former rangbah shnong, secretary, executive members and others.- By Our Reporter
