SHILLONG, MARCH 21: Manipur came from behind to beat Sikkim 3-1 in their last group match in the 4th Dr. T Ao Memorial Football Tournament at the JN Sports Complex here on Thursday.
It was the team from the tiny Himalayan state who took the lead in the 16th minute when striker Bir Bahadur Pradhan’s shot found the back of the net. However, after that it was all downhill for the Sikkim team as the two-time champion Manipur started asserting their superiority.
Six minutes after the lemon break, Manipur equalized through O Pitlar. It was 2-1 in the 69th minute when Manipuri striker Md Imran found the net. Kh. Naoton sealed the fate of Sikkim by hammering home the third goal in the 77th minute.
