SHILLONG, MAY 6: Former Meghalaya minister and Congress member Manas Chaudhuri has resigned from the primary membership of the party. In a brief statement issued on Friday, he said that his resignation letter was forwarded to MPCC President DD Lapang on May 4.
Chaudhuri, who was elected twice to Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Mawprem constituency as an Independent candidate, had joined Congress in 2012. He lost last election as Congress candidate from South Shillong constituency.
He said he was disillusioned with the inept manner in which the party was being run in the state. Chaudhuri further said that the credibility of Congress in the state was increasingly becoming questionable.
The statement, however, is silent on whether he would join any other party or remain Independent.-By Our Reporter
