SHILLONG, FEB 15: Thirty-five -year-old Willander Lamare surrendered before the police after he was allegedly tried burning forty year old Anna Khongwar. Lamare, a resident of Madanrting Block F appeared and surrendered before the Madanrting police station on Saturday, police said.
Lamare has been absconding after committing the crime against Khongwar on February 9 at 4th Mile Upper Shillong.
He along with another man attempted to murder Khongwar by setting her ablaze in a forest near the ARC firing range in Madanrting on Sunday last. The victim, however, was saved by some people from the nearby village who saw her being burned. She received 30 to 35 percent burn injuries and is undergoing treatment in a city hospital.
A case under section 307 and 34 IPC have been registered against Lamare.- By Our Reporter
