SHILLONG, NOV 2: Independent legislator from Nongkrem Lambor Malngiang today expressed his keen interest to contest the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council to be held next year.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Malngiang also the chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB) said, “As of now I am planning to also contest the MDC elections.”
He however said that the final decision on the matter will be taken only after consultation with his supporters during a meeting to be convened very soon. “Whether I contest myself or field a candidate it will be clear after the meeting,” the MLA added.
Malngiang also informed that his priority at the moment is to see and ensure developmental activities are implemented in his constituency.
The Nongkrem constituency is presently represented by KHADC chief and NPP MDC Hispreaching Son Shylla who got re-elected during the 2016 bye-elections after former Nongkrem MLA Ardent M Basaiawmoit resigned as member of the district council following the passing of the anti-daul post Act in the state.
