Shillong, December 9: The RNB Group – a Meghalaya based cement company and also one of the oldest business houses in Eastern India- launched its brand ‘Magic Cement’ in the city on Monday.
The cement plant located at the Industrial unit, Umiam in Ri Bhoi District, 20 kilometers from Shillong, was set up at a total cost of Rs 175 crore and is all set to produce around 4.2 lakh metric tons of cements annually.
The project was conceived by the group way back in the 1990s but has taken a final shape now.
“A lot of focused research and hard work have been put in to come up with the finest and the best cement. Magic Cement, from its very name is surely going to spread its magical power in the North East,” RNB Group chairman Banwari Lal Bajaj told a media conference at the launching ceremony on Monday.
Starting from sturdy roads, beautiful buildings and robust bridges, Magic Cement entices the best of materials with post-modern manufacturing facilities to deliver superior quality cement batch after batch, he added.
Managing Director Rahul Bajaj said, “The state-of-art plant has brought a new edge in the cement production in the north east. The automated processes enhance hassle-free production as the whole process can be supervised from one control room,” adding “Our austere quality control makes sure that every grain of Magic Cement is endowed with the very best attributes.”
Stating cement involves the best in all respects, from raw material, to process, to machinery to packaging to deliveries, Bajaj informed that the company is using very high quality Ichamati limestone, which is one of the best limestones in the world.
“Its low magnesium oxide (MGO) limestone ensures soundness of the cement. Fine grains ensure better compactness, adding solidity to construction. While low sulphur trioxide will lead to slow and low rusting,” Bajaj added.
On the market perspective, the joint managing director Gaurav Bajaj informed that at present the company is supplying finish products in Meghalaya and neighbouring Assam.Apart from targeting to penetrate other north eastern states, he said, “We are planning to expand the market the product to other neigbouring countries like Nepal and Bangladesh.”
