SHILLONG, JAN 22: AICC secretary in-charge of Meghalaya Vijaylaxmi Sadho met Congress party ticket aspirants for the Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats besides holding a review meeting in the city to seek opinions from the state Congress leaders and party functionaries before the finalizing the names of the candidates for both the seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Sadho met all the Congress legislators, leaders of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), District Congress Committees (DCCs), Mahilas and Youth Congress besides candidates for the party ticket.
For the Shillong Lok Sabha seat besides the sitting MP Vincent H Pala, former Meghalaya speaker Charles Pyngrope and Congress member John F Kharshiing have applied for the party ticket. But for the Tura Lok Sabha seat there are as many as nine ticket aspirants including Sports Minister Zenith Sangma.
Besides Zenith Sangma others who have applied for the Congress ticket for the Tura Lok Sabha seat are parliamentary secretary Winnerson D Sangma, former MLA Adolf Lu Hitler Marak, grandson of former CM Daryl William Cheran Momin, former GHADC CEM Polycarp K Marak, Bijoy A Sangma, District Industries officer DK Arengh, Youth Congress general secretary Richard M Marak and former DC Arlene Mayne N Sangma.
Sadho also had close door meeting with chief minister Mukul Sangma and MPCC president DD Lapang and sought their individual opinions on the candidates seeking for party tickets from the two seats.
Sadho would then submit a report to the AICC which will then accordingly allot party ticket for the two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya.- By Our Reporter
