Shillong, Nov 24: Hundreds of hearts of the diehard Lajong fans were throbbing as they were treated to a feast of some good football as their team Shillong Lajong hold fort till the dying moment when Akram Magohrabi to steal a goal for Churchill Brothers giving his team a win by a solitary goal.
The game was headed for draw, but the injury time goal from Moghrabi helped Churchill Brothers to earn full points piping host Shillong Lajong by a solitary goal in the round seven match of the I-League Saturday at JN Sports complex With this win Churchill have 15 points in their kitty.
There was not much of action in the first half to write about except in the 25th minute unmarked Akram Moghrabi failed to control the volleyed ball by skipper Henri Arnaud A Rebienot. Had Akram controlled the ball and took a try on the target the story would have been different. The scoreboard read 0-0 at the lemon break.
Changing over the side it was the local lads who dominated the proceeding of the game, but the lady-luck was not with the team.
In the 48th minute touring defenders stood tall as they did not give any chances to Friday Gbneme, Lalchhuanmawia, Sushil and Eugeson Lyngdoh to score for their team.
In the 56th minute Eugenson Lyngdoh volleyed the ball over the rival defenders and set it for Sushil Kumar Singh but the shot missed the target by few inches.
In the 64th minute the tourist came close to changing score card when Bineesh Balan volleyed the ball and Akram headed which went out kissing the far post.
In the 69th minute Jacob Lalrawngbawla took a long range powerful shot from just outside the danger arc but the ball re-bounced hitting the wooden work.
