Langsning FC lowdown

pics_for_who_is_who_in_Langsning.BANGALORE, APRIL 01: As Meghalaya’s Langsning  FC continue to battle teams from other parts of the country in the on-going 2nd Division I_league to secure a promotion to the lucrative I-League in the next season, oh!meghalaya profiles the football soldiers the club is relying on to take them there. Here they are:

Marlangki Suting, a 27-year-old former India , Mohan Bagan and Lajong FC midfielder, joined the club this season. Also a former player of the Malki Sports Club, he has so far scored two goals in the tournament.

Ailad K’Kynta is a former Indian defender and has been with Langsning since 1998. The 27-year-old has lead the club in various tournaments, and the club depends on him a lot when it comes to the backline.

Ailad’s partner in defense is 27-year-old Nigerian Michael O. Ayemi who joined the club this season from Mutual Point.

Another Nigerian Joel Ayfn Yinkd Sunday (25) is the central forward of the club and has scored the highest numbers of goals in the meet with 10 strikes. A former COD Sports Club player, he joined Langsning in 2011.

The club is being lead in the tournament by former Lajong and Sikkim United striker Daniel Bidemi Ayenei (25).  Daniel joined Langsning this season and has scored five goals in the tournament.

Another cog in Langsning defense is former Royal Wahingdoh player Vinici Lalnupuia Darlong (21) who has been with the club since 2010.

R. Vancalnundanga (24) is a Mizo midfielder and has been with the club since 2010 after his transfer from the Goa side Faria Striker FC.

The club has roped in two Manipuri boys this season in Ashok Singh (24), who is a defender, and used to play for Neroca FC in the past, and Prem Kumar Singh (25) who has been doing wonders under the bar. In the last season, Prem had played for Nisa FC.

Midfielder Timmy Ryngkhlem (27) joined the club from Malki FC this seasion. A winger, Timmy has contributed a goal in this meet. Striker Samson Nongrum (22) is also a former player of Malki FC to the club this season and has contributed a goal during the preliminary round of the meet.

Lastborn Surong is a defender  and has been with the club since 2011. The last club he played for was Mawlai Sports Club.

To strengthen their defense, the club has also roped in Chirag United’s Bijoy Das (25) this year.

The others in the squad are former Royal Wahingdoh star midfielder Victor Shadap, who joined the team in 2011, former Mohammad Sporting FC custodian Tharngachan Tungshang, Naba Singh, who formerly was with Nisa FC. The midfielder from Manipur has contributed one goal in the meet. David Meeti, Surchandra Singh, Fullmoon Mukhim,  Ph. Boy Singh, Overland Snaitang (goalkeeper) and Khrowkupar Tamu  are the remaining members of the squad.

The team is coached by L. Darlong with the assistance of Freedy Kharpran and goalkeeper coach Matheus Khyriem (Bunia). The team manager is R. David Lyngdoh and Fred Marwein is the physiotherapist. (Suraj Joshi)
