Shillong, August 18: Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma inaugurated Saturday a resort at Mylliem set-up by a lady entrepreneur Quincy Thangkhiew and lauded her initiative of not only adding to the tourists’ infrastructure in the State but also generating employment and wealth for the state.
Thangkhiew is well known for her enterprising endeavour in flower nursery and catering.
While inaugurating the resort Sangma praised the efforts of Quincy for establishing the beautiful resort and said that it is a wonderful initiative by a lady entrepreneur and her efforts, hard work and achievement will motivate others to also follow in her footstep.
Sangma said, “Setting up of the resort in Mylliem has generated employment for the youth of the area which is one of the objectives of encouraging the people to set up such resorts.” He informed that the government is willing to work together with prospective partners in setting up resorts and promote tourism in the State.
Sangma said that the government is tying up with one Italian chef who will be engaged in training the local chefs to enable them to cook different cuisines with professional quality.
Sangma felt that the resort lies on the wayside of Shillong – Cherrapunjee road and it will cater to the needs of the tourists, therefore it is important that the resort also keeps brochures about the hotel and its uniqueness so that the people who visit will know at a glance about the resort and the facilities available that are available.
While congratulating Thangkhiew, Sangma appealed to the people of the area, particularly the local leaders, to extend their cooperation and help in promoting tourism in the State. – By Our Reporter
