SHILLONG, DEC 16: Meghalaya fisheries department principal secretary KN Kumar received the exceptional contribution award from union minister of state for external affairs Gen VK Singh at a glittering award ceremony last Saturday held in the Civil Services Officers Institute in New Delhi.
The award was conferred by the g-files, India’s highly read and reputed monthly magazine focusing on the power plays of governance & bureaucracy that shape public policy and India’s destiny as the world’s fastest growing global power since April 2007.
Kumar was one among the four bureaucrats selected from all over the country for the “Exceptional Contribution Award” for 2014. The other four bureaucrats who were selected by an Independent jury consisting of four members are Dr Shrikar Pardeshi, IAS, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, IAS and Amitabh Kumar, IRS. Kumar belongs to the IAS.
The jury members consisted of former cabinet secretary Prabhat Kumar, who is the chairman of the jury, former power secretary Anil Razdan and former Haryana chief secretary Vishnu Bhagwan and former Internal Security secretary MB Kaushal.
The jury narrowed down on Kumar’s name for the “Exceptional Contribution Award-2014 for successfully spearheading the implementing of the Meghalaya State Aquaculture Mission and moving Meghalaya from dependency to self-sufficiency in the production of fresh fish.-By Our Reporter
