KSU seeks disqualification of 10 medical students for failing to submit PRC

SHILLONG, SEP 4: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Monday sought the immediate disqualification of over 10 candidates from the open category in the allotment of MBBS seats under the State quota, after they failed to submit the Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC).

In a letter submitted to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, KSU president Lambokstarwell Marngar said the 10 candidates did not submit relevant documents as per the directives of the DHS.

He said also absence of PRC as one of the submitted document invites disqualification of such candidates while adding that the submitted Birth Certificates which are devoid of a Serial Number and a Court Order should attract a thorough investigation as to how such documents are issued by the concerned authorities.

“…the KSU seeks immediate disqualification of the above 10 candidates from the Open Category List and in their place, genuine and bonafide candidates should be included. The Union hopes that the Government will take necessary steps so as to ensure that rightful candidates from the state are not deprived of their rights and candidates with dubious antecedents are penalized as per the law of the land,” Marngar wrote.

The letter stated that Mehbub Hassan did not submitted his PRC but instead submitted a Provisional PRC which was issued on the 7th June 2023 in Dadenggre and valid for only 12 months. The candidate was born in the year 2001 and Birth Certificate was issued in 2019 which lacks a proper serial number and a court order to verify the same.
