SHILLONG, FEB 23: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Adelbert Nongrum on Monday tabled Rs 15.40 crore the budget allocation on first day of the budget session of the KHADC.
But the budget allocation is only for three months (vote on account) as the full budget allocation for 2015 – 2016 cannot be calculated until the end of financial year
“The vote on account for the three months starts will be from April 1, 2015 to June 30, 2015, and it will ensure smooth functioning of the council”, Nongrum said while presenting his budget speech.
Nongrum informed the house that vote on account budget presented also aims at disbursing the salaries the council’s members, chairperson, deputy chairman, leader of opposition, executive members (EMs), officers and staffs of the different departments (executive, legislative and judicial) of KHADC.
Besides, the interim budget will also help KHADC to meet the various expenditures to ensure smooth functioning of the council, Nongrum added.
Of the Rs 15, 40, 22, 870 estimated, Rs 34,862, 680 was allocated for General Administration Department, Rs 894,780 – Law Department, Rs 10, 898, 010 – Revenue Budget & Finance Department, Rs13, 306, 580– Forest Administration Department, Rs6, 369, 600 – Administration of Justice & Judicial Department, Rs 7, 603, 910 – Legislative Department, Rs1, 94, 170 – Education Department, Rs 72, 053, 190 – Civil Works & Development Department and Rs 7, 839, 950 – Enforcement Scheme for protection of Tribal Land & Interest.
Nongrum assured the house that the full budget allocation will be done during the next session in June.- By Our Reporter
