SHILLONG, JULY 27: Kargil war hero late late Capt Keishing Cliford Nongrum, MVC, was paid homage and remembered on Monday as part of the commemoration of the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil war and also to celebrate the glorious victory of the Indian armed forces.
The wreath laying ceremony was held at the Rhino Heritage Museum, Shillong Cantt. The commemoration was held to also celebrate the glorious victory of the Indian armed forces in the operations aptly named Operation Vijay.
The focus of the ceremony was also to honour late Capt Keishing Cliford Nongrum, MVC; whose commemorative bust had recently been installed at the museum as a mark of respect to the decorated martyr of Meghalaya.
Lt Gen SP Nawathe, GOC 101 Area laid the wreath. Paul Nongrum, the proud elder brother of the late army officer was present and he was one among those who paid homage. Maj (Retd) IM Singh, representative of Zila Sainik Board laid the wreath on behalf of ex-servicemen.- By Our Reporter
