SHILLONG, JAN 7: The additional district commissioner court on Saturday remanded legislator Julius Dorphang to five days police custody. The custody was granted after the East Khasi hills police moved the court praying for five days police custody while producing the legislator who has been accused of raping a minor girl twice.
Dorphang was arrested in the wee hours of Saturday morning from an inter-state bus terminus in Assam after the Meghalaya police along with its Assam counterpart raided many places in Assam including the office of former ULFA leader Anup Chetia.
Dorphang gave the Meghalaya police a slip for eleven days evading arrest after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him. He has booked under the POCSO Act.
