Jowai’s 100 bedded hospice

SHILLONG, MAR 5: Meghalaya health & family welfare minister AL Hek  laid the foundation stone of the 100 bedded  Maternal and Child Health  Hospital to be constructed at the cost of 18 crore 46 lakhs at the premises of old Civil hospital in Jowai under West Jaintia hills district.

Hek in his speech  said that the aim of constructing the MCH hospital in Jowai is to provide best health care facilities to the Pregnant Women and Children of the District both for the urban and rural areas as well. He said the District Early Intervention Care with an estimated cost of 25 lakhs will also be set up and so also Emergency Out Patient department for faster treatment and better facilities to the patient.

Hek said, “Any development taken is for the interest of the public; therefore the government needs the cooperation of the public for the progress of the state and society as well.”

Lauding the initiative taken by the deputy chief minister RC Laloo in the development of the district, Hek said it is due to his dedication, vision and mission that the district has been progressing rapidly.

Speaking as the chief guest, Laloo said the Maternal and Child Care hospital in the district will be a great blessing for the people and the district as it will improve the health and well being of women and children.

NRHM mission director MR Synrem said in his speech that the 100 bedded Maternal and Child Health hospital was a need in the district because of the load at Ganesh hospital, Shillong.

Synrem informed that the 100 bedded MCH Hospital with full equipments has been sanctioned by the union government to cater to the needs of pregnant women and children of the district.- By Our Reporter
