SHILLONG, FEB 6: Fifty 50 job card holders have been deprived of their wages for the past three years totaling Rs 87,000. An RTI report reveals the job card holders of Kynroh Synrang village under Sohiong constituency, East Khasi hills are yet to get their wages even as fund have already been released by the BDO of the Mawphlang C&RD block.
Out of Rs 87,000, cheques having number 251642 and 512577 of Rs 43,500 each was released on November 19, 2013 and March 31, 2014 respectively for clearing the pending wages for construction of roads in the village to the Senior Post Master, Shillong GPO.
Earlier on May 12, 2015, the village employment council (VEC) of Kynroh Synrang had written to the Superintendent of Post Office, Meghalaya division complaining on the delay in releasing the wages. However there is no response till today.
Meanwhile, Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) has demanded an inquiry by the CBI into the issue as the post office falls under its jurisdiction. “The CBI should take suo motto cognizance of the matter,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said.
