SHILLONG, AUG 21: Putting their weight behind the candidates who had passed the District Selection Committee (DSC) from West Khasi hills but are yet to be appointed, West Khasi hills district legislators Witting Mawsor, Hopingstone Lyngdoh and Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) MDC LG Nongsiej has submitted a memorandum to the Meghalaya government asking for revalidation of the DSC list till the waiting candidates are appointed.
A delegation led by Mawshynrut MLA Witting Mawsor and KHADC MDC LG Nongsiej met the state chief secretary WMS Pariat to discuss on the revalidation issue.
A joint memorandum signed by HSPDP supremo Hopingstone Lyngdoh, Mawsor and Nongsiej was also submitted. The memorandum said, “We demand the state government for extension of the result till appointment is given to all the successful candidates.”
The timeframe of the successful candidates who had cleared the DSC examination on 31 Mary, 2010 expired on December 31 last year. But the state government has failed to address the problem of appointment of those candidates who had passed but failed to get appointment till today. Around 184 DCS candidates who are waiting for appointmenthas also resorted to an indefinite hunger strike since the last two days demanding appointment.
According to the candidates who are waiting for appointment , in the two and half years the DSC of West Khasi hills has revalidated the results twice and recommended 47 LDA, 13 SA, 18 GS and all tracer for appointment in various government departments within the district.
The remaining 37 LDA, 18 SA, 17 GS candidates also said they deserve the equal right given to others. In the meantime Pariat informed the delegation that he would take up the matter with the chief minister Mukul Sangma who is out of station and will be back on August 26. Mawsor and Nongseij decided to wait for Sangma and would take up the matter once the chief minister is in office. –By Our Reporter
