SHILLONG, MAY 16: The Shillong high court judge SR Sen rejected the anticipatory bail applications of the tainted CMJ University chancellor CM Jha and one of the officials J Kharpuri on Thursday. The CID has obtained an arrest warrant for both these CMJ University officials from the court. The counsel for Jha and Kharpuri had early moved the anticipatory bail applications in the district court which was rejected after the CID opposed it.
Earlier two CMJ officials- registrar Mrinal Kanti Deb and deputy registrar Prem Lal Rai- were arrested by the CID sleuths. Three others – CM Jha, Kharpuri and Assistant Professor M Kaur have gone missing. The university got into the CID scanner after Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary’s secretariat filed an FIR with the police complaining about the bogus degrees it awarded and also the malfunctioning of the institute.- By Our Reporter
