SHILLONG, SEPT 14: Ahead of the no-confidence motion against his government, chief minister Mukul Sangma rued that the state is yet to get out of the tendency of getting inflicted by instability. “I believe a state that has always been inflicted by instability in the past is yet to get out of the tendency of getting inflicted by this kind of symptom…that is what I see as far as this NC is concern,” Sangma said.
Stating that the democracy has its own robust system, he said, “We will look at the issues they (opposition) are bringing up against us and I have always maintained that as we look at our responsibility towards the people and also needs to set our priorities.”
The chief minister, however, shied away from comment on whether some element from within the ruling coalition is influencing the opposition bench to move the NC.
Sangma said his job is to ensure that the whole MUA stand untied and response to all issues raised by the opposition. He added, “How we do it and how we handle everybody is an internal exercise.”
Former chief minister and chief adviser to the government DD Lapang told reporters that a whip has been issued to all the members of the MUA government for tomorrow’s NC.
He said, “They have been given responsibility so they have to utilize it properly…they have been whipped on that.”-By Our Reporter
