Shillong, Sept 2: ANVC (B) has called an indefinite night road blockade in Garo hills from September 5 even as it has demanded that the government to abolish the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and carve out “Garoland.”.
The ANVC-B warned vehicle moving out after 6 pm may have to face consequences. It said, “We will not be responsible for anything that happens after 6pm. People should stay indoors.”
In a statement released Sunday ANVC(B) said, “We want immediate dissolution of the GHADC and that the Garoland be constituted”,
Continuing their attack on GHADC Chief Executive Member Purno K Sangma the release said that the organization will not change its stand, be it CEM of GHADC or Chief Minister. Let the CEM keep his chair, as our demand from now will be to dissolve GHADC and constitute Garoland. Political leaders have sold out the A’chik interests for greed of power and money.”
The statement said that the organization will not fight for GHADC anymore; it is too “corrupted” to change the system now so it will fight for ‘Garoland’.
The ANVC-B further declared, “Every agitation and protest will focus for ‘Garoland’. Live or die the movement will be on Garoland.”
It warned all leaders who do not stand for ‘Garoland” should stop dreaming of entering and campaigning for 2013 election. –By Our Reporter
