SHILLONG, OCT 1: The Synjuk Seng Samla Hima Nongkhlaw (SSSHN) urged the state government to improve the functioning of the Tirot Sing Memorial Hospital, Mairang in West Khasi hills district in the interest of the people of the area.
“We urge the government to look into the requirements of the hospital for the benefit of the people of Mairang area and its neighbouring villages,” SSSHN Macdonald Nongrang said in a memorandum submitted to Meghalaya health minister AL Hek on Tuesday.
Stating that hospital is facing congestion problem, Nongrang said there is a need to have a bigger area for the extension of the hospital building.” Besides, the organization urged the government to appoint a gynecologist and ophthalmologist and also get other equipment like X-Ray and Ambulance for the hospital
The SSSHN also requested the government to address the shortage of water supply which is the main problem faced by the hospital. Hek has assured the delegation that the demands put by them would be taken up by the government on priority basis. –By Our Reporter
