SHILLONG, AUG 14: As part of the sixty-seven Independence Day celebration, the Garo Hills Adventure Motorsports Association (GAMA) in collaboration with the District Sports Officer organised “Dirt Endeavor” -a two wheel rally- at Chandmary playground, Tura.
The 62 kilometers competitive two wheel rally was flagged off by Gambegre legislator Saleng A Sangma.
The two wheel rally was participated by 20 teams comprising of motorsport enthusiast from Garo Hills. Legislator Saleng A Sangma before flagging off the really praised the organizers and said that the novel initiative befitted the celebration of Independence Day.
Sangma suggested that the rally could be organized in a grand scale in the future to attract motorsport enthusiasts from all over the state. The association is organizing the rally after a gap of eight years because GAMA was short of sponsorship. However GAMA will be trying to organize similar rallies at least once a year.
GAMA president and South Tura legislator John Leslee K Sangma said that the association would be organizing a rally on 15th August as part of the Independence Day celebrations. Lamenting the fact that there were few participants Sangma said that he expected a bigger turn out in the next rally which will be organized within this year and will also include four wheelers. – By Our Reporter
