SHILLONG, SEPT 29: More than 1600 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) aspirants from across the state took part in the mega IAS Scholarship exam conducted in all district headquarters on Saturday.
The scholarship exam was conducted by the ALS, which is India’s largest IAS coaching network, to select the top 100 IAS talents of Meghalaya who will be fully sponsored for their IAS training at ALS Shillong and Tura centre under the Chief Minister Career Guidance and Counselling Scheme.
This path breaking initiative taken by the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will give opportunity to needy deserving and talented IAS aspirants of the state who are unable to afford quality education.
The exam was supervised by deputy commissioners of the different districts along with nodal officers who were nominated by the respective DCs.
Results of the exam will be declared on October 6 and training for the selected candidates will start from October 15 in Shillong and Tura.
Meanwhile, the ALS in a statement issued here also expressed its appreciation to all the deputy commissioners for making the exam a grand success.
It also stated that ALS hopes to produce many more results in UPSC from Meghalaya in the coming years with this initiative taken by the state government.
