SHILLONG, OCT 29: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today hit back and accused the Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma for making wild allegations because of his own failures.
“But now because of his failure he (Mukul) is trying to say that Prestone seems he has a link with HNLC,” Tynsong told journalists here on Monday.
While stating that the opposition Congress would push for investigation into the alleged politico-militant nexus and to find out whether such elements were also used in the last Assembly elections, Mukul had stated, “We have to find out whether Tynsong was talking regularly with these people (members of HNLC) earlier.”
The opposition Congress had questioned the recent coming overground of the self-styled general secretary of the banned Khasi rebel outfit, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), Cheristerfield Thangkhiew, who surrendered before the deputy chief minister.
Further reacting to this allegation, Tynsong however said, “I want to categorically tell you that see a person who was in the driver seat when he failed to drive the vehicle and when the other driver who have taken the seat from him he could cross the bridge he has to say that only and there is no way out and I don’t have any surprise he can just say like that, blaming and bla bla.”
Denying of having any links with the HNLC, the deputy chief minister said, “Let me tell you my dignity I never had any link with any organization, my integrity not even a single moment that I had that kind of link what Mukul has alleged.”
Alleging the former chief minister for declining talks with the HNLC, Tynsong said that the former HNLC general secretary keeps on telling every now and then that he had spoken to the ex-home minister Roshan Warjri for more than five times.
“It seems when Warjri talk to Mukul he said no. Now it is clear that Mukul himself did not want HNLC to come overground. He did not want if he wants it would have happen that time itself when the HNLC general secretary that time when he was intouch with the home minister. May be because Mukul feels down just because Cherister talked to his own home minister, Mukul said no may be he was having that ego problem,” he said.
