HYC urges Govt to set up more CUET centres

SHILLONG, JUNE 5: The education cell of the Hynniewtrep Youth’s Council (HYC) has demanded the state government to set up more Common University Entrance Test (CUET) centres in Meghalaya.

In a letter to the education minister Rakkam A Sangma here on Monday, HYC education secretary Enlang Sawian said that the unavailability  of the  CUET centre in the state has compelled the  students of the state who are seeking admission for UG And PG courses into various institutions in the country to travel to Guwahati, Assam for appearing the entrance examinations.

“This non availability of the CUET center has in fact put the students in the state in distress and hardship as students have to encounter various issues such as  high cost travel expenditure and  long distance journeys. The council hopes that the State Government will take necessary steps and action to address this issue at the earliest,” Sawian added.
