SHILLONG, AUG 25: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Friday demanded the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) to put on hold the recruitment process for nursing officers through the Nursing Officer Recruitment Eligibility Test (NORCET)-5.
In a letter to Director of the Institute, HYC president Robertjune Kharjahrin said, “This sudden deviation of NEIGRIHMS from the earlier practice of recruitment itself, is an attempt to deny the local indigenous youths of the State an opportunity to be recruited as Nursing officers in the Institute.”
He said as per information, AIIMS-New Delhi vide Notice dated 05.08.2023 have invited applications for the NORCET-5 for the recruitment of Nursing Officer posts for AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS as per available vacancies in the respective institutes.
The last date for submissions of online applications was till 5pm on 25.08.2023. The Examinations for the same were fixed to be held on September 17, 2023 {Online (CBT) for Stage I: NORCET Preliminary} and on October 7, 2023 {Online (CBT) for Stage II: NORCET Mains}.
“Suddenly, AIIMS New Delhi vide Notice-200/2023 dated 25.08.23 in its website informed that in continuation of the above stated Notice No. 146/2023, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is now a participating institute of NORCET-5 and the last date for submission of online forms is extended till 28.8.2023. The List of Vacancies and eligibility criteria for recruitment of the Institute have not been specified.
Moreover, the Notice No. 200/2023 is only uploaded in the official website of AIIMS New Delhi and the time given for submission of Application forms is very limited not to speak about the fact that most of the local youths will be unaware of the said recruitment process in this short period of time,” he said.
Stating that this is a clear attempt to deny the local eligible youths to be appointed in the institute, Kharjahrin said, “Therefore, we demand that the Notice No. 200/2023 issued by AIIMS New Delhi be cancelled and the Recruitment process through NORCET be put on hold for the time being.”
“We also demand that NEIGRIHMS should give prior and wide publicity to the public before adopting such a new process and also provide awareness programs to the youths in the State for appearing in such Recruitment processes. It is also demanded that any advertisement/notice of recruitment in the future should be given in the local newspapers for wide publicity,” he added.
Meanwhile, the HYC has threatened to resort to agitational programs if the NEIGRIHMS authority refused to pay heed to its demand.
