SHILLONG, DEC 10: Together with the rest of the world, North Garo hills also observed the World Human Rights Day at Resubelpara on Wednesday where hundreds of people from all walks of life including the members of self-help groups participated.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner in-charge DD Sangma spoke at length about human rights, violation of human rights and stressed on the need to be aware of one’s own rights.
L Ch Marak, project director of DRDA, Suzana K Marak, former chairperson of Meghalaya State Women’s Commission and Rupart M Momin, member of the District Legal Services Authority also spoke on the occasion.
On the day, World HIV/AIDS Day and awareness on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) were also simultaneously observed and organized at SHGY Hall of Resubelpara C&RD Block.
The function was presided over by CN Sangma, senior EAC and the vote of thanks was proposed by Tilak Boro, an official of election branch.- By Our Reporter
