SHILLONG, JAN 17: The Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) released fourteen names of candidates, including three women, who will be contesting in the forthcoming MDC elections slated on February 24.
Nongkrem legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit, who is also the party’s vice president, will also contest the MDC polls.
The party has also allotted the tickets to two sitting MDCs including former independent MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri, who recently resigned as an executive member of KHADC and Teilinia Thangkhiew. Both have recently joined the HSPDP.
Kharpuri will be contesting from Nongskhen and Thangkhiew from Mylliem.
Announcing the first list on Friday, HSPDP spokesperson Goldenstar Nonglong informed that ten candidates are from Khasi Hills region while four others from Jaintia Hills region.
The other candidates are – Badhok Nongmalieh from Nongpoh constituency, Nosi Lyngdoh from Jirang, Pynwanbor Sylliang from Umroi, Panborlang L Ryntathiang from Mawlai, Banri Kupar Wahlang from Laban – Mawprem, Pyniaid Sing Syiem from Sohryngkham, Samson Suting from Langkyrdem,
From Jaintia Hills region, the candidates are – J Marbood Kyndiah from Ummulong, Lakhon Paulus Sungoh from Shilliang-Myntang, Hederson Symbai from Nartiang and Bres Dkhar from Khliehriat constituency.
The party informed that the second list of candidates would be announced on January 23.- By Our Reporter
