SHILLONG, SEPT 15: September 29, 2015 marks the end of the earthly journey of late HSPDP leader and legislator Hoping Stone Lyngdoh.In the eight-six years of his existence, he has left an impeccable mark both as a politician and an individual that very few can match.
Tuesday marked Lyngdoh’s final journey as he was laid with full state honour and 21 gun salute by the Meghalaya police at his native village Mawkyllei at Pariong in West Khasi hills district.
Lyngdoh’s funeral saw a sea of humanity who all came to have the last glimpse of the great leader that the state has ever produced.

government chief adviser DD Lapang, Meghalaya chief secretary PBO Warjri, Opposition leader Donkupar Roy besides other members of assembly and district councils were also present to pay their last respect to the departed soul.
Paying rich floral tributes to late Lyngdoh, Sangma said he was a leader of the people who loved people and was loved by people. Recalling his acquaintance with the late leader when he was still in school, he said late Lyngdoh was a stalwart among the politicians who selflessly pursued the objective of statehood.
While recollecting his contributions, Sangma said late Lyngdoh was a politician who was known for many good things which he practiced and demonstrated by the way he lived. He said, “His impeccable integrity in public life, the most important quality of a man who spent his entire life in serving the people, is something for us to emulate.”
Sangma said that another quality of late Lyngdoh was that he was consistent with small and major issues that he took up which was not taken up for any political mileage but for the love for his people. He said late Lyngdoh was instrumental in sensitizing many in responding to given challenges.
Sangma said, “New politicians learnt many things from the great leader and he was the only politician who was rich with people love which is a reflection of the love he had earned which should be emulated.”
Sharing his grief, Sangma said that the many great qualities of late Lyngdoh who was a committed leader will not get disconnected but his life will be available for all so that his qualities can be emulated and passed on to the next generation.
Nongkrem legislator and HSPDP leader Ardent Basaiwmoit, Donkupar Roy and DD Lapang also spoke of their association with the late leader and his many contributions to the region and the state in particular.
Thousands of people from the village and neighboring areas, church leaders, students, government officials and members of various organizational bodies attended the funeral to pay their last respect to the departed leader.- By Our Reporter
