Shillong, November 14: Meghalaya Information & Public Relations (MIPR) minister AL Hek inaugurated the Meghalaya Pavilion at the 33rd India International Trade Fair- 2013 (IITF) organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) from 14th to 27th November at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
MIPR director HM Shangpliang, SR Marak, joint resident commissioner of Meghalaya House, New Delhi along with officials from various participating departments and entrepreneurs were present during the inaugural function.
The IITF is a mega event organized by ITPO every year during the month of November. Participants from across the country and abroad are participating for showcasing their excellent products/exhibits in diverse fields especially trade and commerce. IITF is also the best platform for promoting the local entrepreneurs, expansion of marketing and exchanging of ideas with entrepreneurs from various corners of the country and abroad. The theme of IITF-2013 is “Inclusive Growth”.
Departments participating in the India International Trade Fair-2013 at the Meghalaya Pavilion include Agriculture and Horticulture, Commerce & Industries, Tourism, Forest, Soil & Water Conservation, Fishery, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya Handloom Handicraft Development Cooperation, Meghalaya Khadi Village Industrial Board and Directorate of Information and Public Relations as the nodal department.
Apart from government departments there are also 19 entrepreneur units sponsored by various government departments participating in the fair for promoting and showcasing their indigenous products.
A cultural programme will also be organised during IITF -2013 on 25th November at Lal Chowk Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi to showcase the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the state.- By Our Reporter
