AMPATI, MAR 31: The National Forecasting Centre of India, Meteorological department, has warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the three days from 31 March to April 2 in South West Garo hills.
South West Garo hills district administration has asked the people of the district to remain alert on these days.
The deputy commissioner has also convened a meeting with the district officials on Tuesday for taking appropriate measures to prepare and respond effectively for any eventuality.
All district officials have been asked to remain in station during these days and concerned departments have been directed to take necessary steps for disaster mitigation.
The people have been asked to move themselves and their belongings and rations to safety. They have also been told to avoid venturing near the streams, rivers and water bodies and not to allow their children play in or near such water bodies during these days.- From Our Correspondent
