SHILLONG, MAR 23: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the Social Welfare department to file its response relating to setting up of the deaddiction centre at Mawkasiang village in East Khasi Hills district within a week’s time.
“…we direct the Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya, to file its response in the form of an affidavit within a week from date,” the division bench said in its order passed on Tuesday while hearing a PIL.
When the matter was taken up for consideration today, the advocate representing the State referred to an affidavit affirmed by the Director of Social Welfare Department on March 15.
The affidavit stated, “That your humble deponent respectfully begs to submit that all the movable and immovable properties constructed by the “Kripa Foundation” from the grant received from the State Government through the Social Welfare Department for setting up of Deaddiction Centre at Mawkasiang, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong shall be handed back to the office of the Director of Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya by the Kripa Foundation after completion/end of the contract and the assets of this Deaddiction Centre shall always belong to the State of Meghalaya.”
