SHILLONG, JULY 21: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday assured to take up the issue of SSA teachers with the Centre.
Malik has given the assurance to the delegation of the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) which requested his intervention into the inordinate delay to release their five months’ salary.
The SSA teachers have been sleeping in the streets for the past four days to demand their legitimate rights.
After the meeting, MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said the governor had assured the teachers that he will take up the matter with the central government for releasing the first installment for payment of salary to over 12,541 SSA teachers in the state.
Rymbai said that the meeting with the governor was successful as he had called and asked the chief minister to address the plights of the teachers.
“The governor had spoken to chief minister Conrad K Sanhma and had asked the state government to immediately address the matter especially when it comes to their five months pending salary and enhancement of salary,” said Rymbai.
