SHILLONG, JULY 4: The state’s health department has asked the Border Security Force (BSF) to get all the outpost personnel at Lyngkhat village along the Indo-Bangla border in East Khasi Hills district, tested for COVID-19 after three jawans were infected on Saturday.
“We have given advisory to the BSF hospital to take samples of all the personnel at the Lyngkhat border outpost (to prevent the spread of COVID-19),” Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War told reporters.
He said this was after three BSF jawans from Lyngkhat have been tested positive at the BSF hospital in Shillong. Altogether, 11 persons from the BSF including 10 males and one female have been infected.
Asked, the DHS said that he doesn’t think that there would be any mingling with the local populace at the border. “The BSF are taking stringent measures to curb the spread of the virus,” he added.
