Govt to lift lockdown in Shillong from Wednesday

“We have decided not to continue with the lockdown. Therefore, the lockdown will temporarily be lifted from tomorrow,” Deputy Chief Minister  Prestone Tynsong told reporters after the daily review meeting held on Tuesday.

Asked, Tynsong said that the decision was taken after inputs have been received from the health department that contact tracing in connection with the wedding party and NEIGRIHMS are concerned has been completed.

“Therefore, lockdown at this point of time is not necessary,” he said.

According to him, 198 people have been identified as high risk contacts of the wedding attendees and positive patients at NEIGRIHMS.

It may be mentioned here that the deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills Matsiewdor War Nongbri had filed an FIR against 41 wedding attendees based on the government’s direction.
