SHILLONG, APR 9: Stranded in view of the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, over 2,100 migrant workers are being provided with food and shelter in more than 25 relief camps set up across the state.
“The state government has provided food and shelter to more than 2100 migrant workers,” deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters here on Thursday.
He said a total of 25 relief camps have been set up in the different districts of the state and each camp is also equipped with para medical team to look after the health being of the workers.
Of these, 7 relief camps are in East Khasi Hills District, 8 in West Garo Hills, 3 in East Jaintia Hills, 2 each in Ri Bhoi and North Garo Hills and 1 each in West Jaintia Hills, South West Khasi Hills and East Garo Hills.
