SHILLONG, MAR 4: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has ruled out any possibility of revoking the cabinet’s decision to reimburse 95 percent of the total income tax payable by the All India Service (AIS) officers serving in the state.
His statement came after BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek has requested the state government to reconsider its decision on the matter.
“Yes, though he (Hek) raised the concern, we were very clear that the decision cannot be reversed in that line. This is specifically to the All India Service officials,” Sangma told reporters on Thursday.
The chief minister further stated that the decision was in the government of India’s decision to provide such a package to our (AIS) officers, who are working in Delhi and other parts of the country.
“The minister’s concern was that what about officials in other departments, we said that is a different subject, so that need not be mixed with this particular proposal that we have cleared, that can be examined by the concerned department at a separate level,” he added.
