SHILLONG, JAN 16: Continuing their tug-of-war for the control of the Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) between its present president Agnes Kharshiing and former president Irene Hujon, the former has alleged that some of the government and police officials are helping Hujon to proclaim that she was the president of the organisation.
The allegation of support of government and police officials was made by Kharshiing in a letter submitted to the Meghalaya Chief Secretary WMS Pariat Tuesday. A copy of the letter was also given to the Meghalaya DGP and Registrar of Society.
The battle for the control of the CSWO- a women’s organisation- between Kharshiing and Hujon have been continuing for a long time.
The presence of Hujon and another lady Christabel Wanniang- who are claiming as members of the CSWO- in Tuesday agitation by the grade IV job aspirants seem to have irked Kharshiing and the general secretary Evangeline Thabah who approached Pariat to give the status of the members of the CSWO.
The letter also asked Pariat to verify the status of the members of the CSWO with the Lumdiengjri and Sadar police stations where all the relevant papers like registration papers with the Registrar of Societies have been submitted earlier when there was a claim and counter claim between Kharshiing and Hujon. – By Our Reporter
