SHILLONG, SEP 15: The revised detailed project report (DPR) to scale down the project cost of the New Shillong Township Water Supply Scheme is under preparation.
This was informed by Minister in-charge PHE Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar in his reply tabled in the Assembly on Thursday.
The New Shillong Township Water Supply Scheme was accorded administrative approval in March, 2014 under the Special Plan Assistance (SPA) for an estimated cost of Rs 321.28 crore and Rs 9 crore was released to the department from SPA and Rs 11 crore from the state share and the same amount has been utilized on procurement of pipes.
The minister said though preliminary work orders for civil and laying of pipeline works in thirty one groups were issued to registered class I contractors in December 2016, formal work orders have not been issued to the contractors due to uncertainty in funding of the project following discontinuation of Special Plan Assistance Funding by Government of India.
Therefore, the physical progress achieved so far is Nil, he said adding that the revised DPR to scale down the project cost is under preparation.
