SHILLONG, APR 7: For the first time, Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School topped in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, results of which were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Tuesday.
The number of top twenty rank holders was 49 this year, compared to last year which was 85.
Wangaal Lama of Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School secured the top position in this year’s SSLC examination by scoring 585 marks.
The second position went to Vishal Kumar of Embee Rosebud Higher Secondary School, Tura scoring 576 marks while third position is shared by two students – Prajukta Roy of Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Prinita Das of Pechon A Sangma Memorial Police Public Secondary School, Tura for scoring 575 marks.
A total of 48,623 students from 719 institutions appeared for the SSLC Examination in 171 centres this year, with 42228 students successfully passing.
Notably, 9104 students passed exactly five subjects, while 33124 students passed all six subjects.
This year’s pass percentage stands at an impressive 86.84%, compared to last year’s 87.10%.
West Jaintia Hills recorded the highest pass percentage at 94.99 percent while East Garo Hills is with the lowest at 72.33 percent.
The pass percentage in other districts are West Garo Hills 77.75%, South Garo Hills 88.48%, East Khasi Hills 94.17%, West Khasi Hills 92.95%, Ri Bhoi 88.04%, South West Garo Hills 74.54%, North Garo Hills 72.70%, South West Khasi Hills 94.60, East Jaintia Hills 92.85% and Eastern West Khasi Hills 93.31%.
