SHILLONG, SEPT 15: Acting on specific intelligence, officers of Air intelligence Unit, Imphal Customs in co-ordination with CISF personnel today seized 36 smuggled gold bars in separate seizure cases weighing 5.97 Kg from the possession of six air passengers at Imphal International Airport.
In a statement issued here, Deputy Commissioner (Hqrs Prev)Shillong, Dr Prakash Borgohain said the value of the gold bars is estimated at Rs. 1.79 crore. The gold bars were concealed in their rectum. Part of the consignment was bound for Delhi and rest for Kolkata. All the six persons have been arrested under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962.
Further investigation of the case is in progress, he said.
