SHILLONG, JUNE 13: Concerned over the frequent ‘personal attacks’ between legislators during the ongoing reassembled budget session, Meghalaya assembly peaker Abu Taher Mondal urged the legislators to stick to the rules while participating in the proceedings of the assembly.
Mondal had to expunged some of the personal remarks that were exchanged between some legislators belonging to the ruling and the opposition during the course of debate in the current reassembled budget session.
Mondal on Friday had to quote relevant sections from the rules of procedure and conduct of business in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to the house so that the legislators from both the sides abide by the dos and don’ts.
Mondal told the assembly, “I do hope they (members) will follow the rules.
According to convention in parliamentary democracy the legislators and parliamentarian have to religiously follow the rulebook whenever they take part in the proceedings of the House.
Mondal’s request to stick by the rules book to the legislators and said members are not supposed to make any personal charge against their colleagues and avoid from making running commentaries when speeches are being made in the house.- By Our Reporter
