SHILLONG, JULY 30: The South West Garo hills police on Tuesday arrested an over ground worker of the GNLA from a remote village of the district.
The police team raid the residence of one Nicholas D Sangma after it was tipped off,informed South West Garo hills SP R Muthu. He informed that before the police could enter the house at Darugre village, two cadres of the GNLA managed to escape.
Muthu said, “We have arrested Sangma for providing shelter to the GNLA cadres.”
Confirming that Sangma is an over ground worker of GNLA, Muthu said, “The accused have been booked under the unlawful prevention Act.” He added that the police are interrogating him.
Police sources further informed that Sangma was also involve in extortion activities in the area. Police, however, did not recover any arms or documents from the residence of Sangma. – By Our Reporter
