SHILLONG, FEB 28: A Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militant along with three others including a minor girl was arrested from Keating road on Saturday, police informed. East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said that police got inputs about the presence of GNLA militant and kept surveillance in commercial areas.
Kharkhrang said the police was able to arrest a GNLA militant identified as Jasang Ch Marak (29) alias Akilang, who belongs to Bokingre Kusumkol group of GNLA. He informed Marak was accompanied by three others including a 17 year old girl, who hails from Dainabubi in Garo hills.
The three arrested have been identified as Huebirth R Sangma (35) from Shallang village and Charles D Shira (26) of Dalbot Shallang in West Khasi hills district. Kharkhrang informed that Sangma is an over ground worker of GNLA while Shira was a surrendered militant of the ANLCA.
Kharkhrang revealed that interrogation is on and said that the police are trying to ascertain the purpose of their stay in Shillong.- By Our Reporter
