SHILLONG, SEPT 17: Two persons died while two others sustain bullet injuries when outlawed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) cadres open fire at civilian residences in a remote village of South West Garo hills district in the wee hours of Tuesday. The incident took place at around 1.30 am, when the GNLA cadres fired at the residence of the villagers at Garobada village in the district, police informed.
Police said the cadres open fire at the house of one Ganandra Hajong and Anirud HAjong (42) son of Sotindro Sotindro while the families were still asleep. As a result of the firing, wife of Ganadra identified as Sridina A Sangma (32) and a family member of Sotindro Chandrabala Hajong (35) died after sustaining bullet injuries..
The other two Jetika Hajong (14) and Chandrabala Hajong (35) however sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. After the incident security forces have intensified operations in the area to nab the culprits behind the killing. – By Our Reporter
