SHILLONG, MAR 5: The proscribed Garo militant outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) has appealed to the state government on Wednesday to appoint a mediator who will act as a bridge connecting the outfit with the government for the peace-talks.
GNLA has proposed the United Church Peace Forum (UCPF) and its chairman-Champion R Sangma’s counsel Sujit Dey to be the mediators for facilitating the talks with the state government.
“We request the government to approve the name of Dey and UCPF to be mediators between the Governor KK Paul and the outfit, so that official communication can be started,” GNLA’s commander-in-chief (C-i-C) Sohan D Shira said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Shira said that the outfit’s chairman Champion R Sangam will officially communicate to the Governor for the peace talk.
“We will stand with our chairman,” Shira said. – By Our Reporter
