It call for an introspection on the latest unfortunate hate campaign against the people from North East either working or studying in Pune and some south Indian states that led thousands to return home in panic. There is a definite mischievous game-plan in creating a sense of panic and fear.
Taking undue advantage of the ethnic clash in the Bodo areas in Assam the mischief makers, which is a mild term, rather the anti- Indian engineered an unsavoury situation that promoted hatred between Indians, attacking the very core of India’s secularism.
The people of the north east India merely became a pawn in a bigger game to dismantle the unity of a diverse nation such as India, by injecting elements of mistrust and hatred among the different sections of the people and India’s image in the world arena. Imagine what an unstable and violence ridden India would mean for an economic growth and its march in becoming an economic power.
The governments- central and states- will have to work to bring about a lasting trust between different communities, religions, regions and tribes that makes this great nation tick.
However, it must be underlined that the role and attitude of the people of this country towards such nefarious design is, perhaps, equally important for defeating such a design. “Fear” has always been used as a weapon to either subjugate or spread hatred among people, therefore, we must learn to face and give it a fight. – By Sumar Sing Sawian
