SHILLONG, AUG 25: The State Level Committee (SLC) headed by the state chief secretary KS Kropha approved the project proposals submitted by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) for the implementation of the Rs 100.71 crore special assistance grant sanctioned by the centre.
The committee is yet to approve the proposals of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) as it has failed to indicate the cost estimates involved for their implementation. The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is the only one which is yet to submit its proposal.
“We have approved the proposals submitted by the GHADC,” Kropha told reporters after the first sitting of the state level committee, which was constituted as per NITI Aayog guidelines for examining the project proposals of all the ADCs, held on Thursday.
He also informed that the committee is yet to approve the proposal of the JHADC as it has submitted its projects without estimates.
When asked about the KHADC, Kropha said, “They are yet to submit their proposals.”
The chief secretary informed that the SLC will again sit on September 16, for finalizing the pending proposals of the two ADCs.
Apart from the GHADC, the centre has sanctioned Rs 133.12 crore for the KHADC and Rs 33.57 crore for the JHADC out of the Rs 267.4 crore. As per the NITI Aayog guidelines, the project proposal will have to be prepared by the District Council Level Committees of the respective ADCs.
The delegation of the GHADC was led by the Deputy Chief Executive Member Augustine R Marak and Executive Member in-charge of Forest SK Sangma.
“The SLC has okay all our projects,” the GHADC Dy CEM said while adding that it is upto the state government to release the funds at the earliest. According to him, the NITI Aayog has already directed the state and the ADCs to submit the utilization certificates (UCs) by October.-By Our Reporter
