SHILLONG, APR 9: The Meghalaya High Court has granted the state government and GHADC till April 15 to come up with further instructions pertaining to the 10 months pending salaries to the district council employees.
The High Court in its order issued yesterday stated that the respondents are granted to complete their instructions even as it has fixed April 15, as the next hearing on the matter.
The order was issued after the state government and the GHADC had sought time for further instructions following a writ petition filed by the GHADC Non-Gazetted Employees Association.
“Over 1000 employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) have not been getting their salaries for the past 10 months since July last year,” the counsel for petitioner AS Siddiqui said here.
According to him, the pending salary is to the tune of crores of rupees. He informed that after a hearing held on February 8, notice was accordingly issued to the respondents.
In yesterday’s hearing, the matter again came up for orders wherein the responsdents sought time for further instructions and the matter is to be listed on April 15, Siddiqui said.- By Our Reporter
